Bhutan : His Majesty grants audience to SAARC Secretary General


June 11:
His Majesty the King granted an audience to the SAARC Secretary General at the Tashichodzong yesterday morning.


He arrived in the country on a four day official visit on Monday, June 09.

Dr. Sheel Kant Sharma is from India and was appointed as the Secretary General of SAARC in March this year.


He joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1973. During his 35 year career, he has served as Ambassador of India to Austria and Permanent Representative of India to international organizations in Vienna. He has also worked as additional secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs.

The SAARC Secretary General also called on the Prime Minister Lyoenchen Jigmi Y. Thinley and Foreign Minister Lyonpo Ugyen Tshering.

He will be inaugurating the SAARC Forestry Institute in Taba today.
