His Majesty grants audience to National Assembly and National Council members

April 5: His Majesty the King granted an audience to the 47 National Assembly members and the 25 National council members yesterday.

His Majesty the King gave an audience to all the National Assembly members elect and the National Council members elect and the five appointees of His Majesty to the National Council in a significant and symbolic start to the new democratic process. Their Royal Highnesses the Princesses and the Princes were also present.

The occasion was marked by happiness and pride as the members received Tashi Delek and good wishes from His Majesty the King. The day was celebrated with dances, archery and Khuru matches.

Some of the parliamentarians shared their views on how they felt on being granted an audience and their responsibilities from now on.

Also present were the Prime Minister Lyonpo Kinzang Dorji, the Chief Justice Lyonpo Sonam Tobgay, the Chief Election Commissioner Dasho Kunzang Wangdi and the Army Chief, the commandant of the Royal Body Guards and the Chief of Police.

His Majesty the King also hosted a luncheon for the parliamentarians.
