His Majesty the King granted an audience to the candidates of the People’s Democratic Party on May 1.
Members of the party secretariat were also present.
His Majesty conveyed his appreciation to the candidates for their participation in the historic transition to democracy. His Majesty said that the two parties and their candidates stepped forward to serve the country during such a profound time in our history.
Also present at the gathering were their Royal Highnesses the Princesses, Ashi Chimi Yangzom Wangchuck, Ashi Sonam Dechan Wangchuck and Ashi Dechen Yangzom Wangchuck.
The day was celebrated with dances, archery and Khuru matches. His Majesty the King also hosted a luncheon for the gathering.
