Thai volunteers

The first batch of ten Thai volunteers will be in the country by the end of the year to provide technical support in agriculture, public health, tourism and vocational institutes.

The duration will be for a year which can be extended for another year.

A four-member delegation from the Thailand International Development Cooperation Agency (TICA) led by its Mr.Vudhisit Viryasiri, is in the country to discuss on a volunteer requests made by the concerned agencies through the Royal Civil Service Commission.

The visit follows the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between TICA and the RCSC on September 28, 2007, to promote cooperation through the provision of technical expertise in relevant fields both in the public and the private sectors.

The delegation will study the scope of the work plan for volunteers, cultural adaptation, safety, security and work environment to select suitable volunteers.

The volunteers will be trained, interviewed and a certain qualification will be drawn before selection. “A good command in english will be given importance during the selection,” said the TICA director.

During the five-day visit, the delegates will be meeting officials from the various government and the private sectors to talk about their requirements.
